Friday, August 31, 2018, 11:08:48 AM- Not seen the Quarry lately?
Until today, I do think it was the juvenile of the three? Steps out, and a crow is going mental, and then 2 Sulphur crested Cockatoo went ballistic. I check the sky and another crow is seeing off what I think was the juvenile Wedge Tail Eagle. Next year maybe ? looks as though this season is over. on a sadder note, it is life/survival, the Macropods are abandoning their Joeys due to the dry conditions

Tuesday, July 10, 2018, 5:56:05 AM- Saga continues, with little success ?
Birds are a good indicator of what is in their environment, unless it is a happy jack, them little bastards just fight and squabble all the time, if one finds a grub the rest think they should have it or just for the hell of it he is on my patch of turf! A Butcher Bird will give an alarm call, Peewees too are a good little alarm giver, especially good for snakes these two. Onto a Wood Duck, well they gave the game away, there are 24 of them on the Red Sea. They all took flight from where they were foraging, then appeared to cower on the bank of the red sea? Not Normally do they land on the bank, mostly in the water. Yes, there was a predator just starting his/her climb to greater heights. In the morning he/she went north, in the evening was soaring in the south [peaved, no camera] then late evening was soaring up to 30 klm away in the west. [again no camera] I think I can !! but just can't nail it properly! Bugger!

Tuesday, July 3, 2018, 3:03:16 AM- Flight of the Condor
Days to weeks, I have been chasing El Condors. It started with one, then there were two, and today I observed three. OH M G they ride the thermals, and if I happen to see them, which is about every 2nd to 3rd day, most times by the time I bolt for the camera, they have soared high enough to be unviable to photograph. I have not given up hope yet. I am I am I AM

Monday, April 2, 2018, 12:37:29 PM- Compact Cameras, YES you can do it!
Most nights, my little free range pets sit out on the balcony and eat insects that are drawn to the light. The weapon of choice is a Panasonic DMC-TZ11, YES you can do it with a Compact. On a compact, shift it off "A" or "IA" [auto] select the little flower which denotes closer focus, and for these I selected flash on and in some Red Eye reduction flash. I aligned my subject using a small LED light and simply pushed the button. Depending if the LED was on or off, the Eyes of the frog are either dilated or not. I was Gobsmacked, I was reading the Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the year entries in 2013 a Finalist in the awards had used a compact! Come on, no you cant do that? Not a National Award winning competition? Well Yes You Can! A Panasonic DMC-FT3 If you need encouragement ...... YOU CAN DO IT!
