Wednesday, June 15, 2016, 7:24:31 PM- I used to be on another site, hmm, wonder which one
whilst on the site i made a ton of friends who have become friends in the real world
one of the things we shared were recipes

HP these were my favorite cookie for so long, my youngest would make them for me

Snickerdoodles

1/2 cup butter softened (no substitutes)
1 cup white sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
----
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Beat butter in a large mixing bowl with an electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds. Add the 1 cup sugar, baking soda, and cream of tartar; beat til combined. Beat in egg and vanilla. Beat in as much flour as you can with the mixer. Stir in remaining flour with a wooden spoon. Cover and chill for an hour.

Combine the 2 tablespoons sugar and the cinnamon in a shallow dish. Shape dough into 1-inch balls, roll balls in sugar-cinnamon mixture. Place balls 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in a 375F oven for 8-10 minutes or until edges are golden. Transfer cookies to wire racks to cool.

Tuesday, May 10, 2016, 8:17:09 PM- Bees
I thought id do an update on my little Bee business
I set up first hive in oct, our season is the reverse to the one in USA, all went well and I managed to remove over 50kg of honey from that one hive this season> I use the crush and extract method, next time thanks to a wonderful boss and friend i now own a two frame manual extractor, so i will spin the frames to remove the honey and then put them back in with empty wax cells built by the bees and then they just refill them and cap them, with the crush and extract method they have to rebuild the cells so it takes longer. I also managed to catch a late swarm, they are now happily wintering down, i have left honey in both the hives to feed the bees over winter if they need it as i would rather not use sugar water. It is our autumn now so its time for varro treatments, which are done and entrance reducing so they can defend themselves from wasps, which we dont seem to have here and the odd mouse who may wish to winter with them.
I also attend a bee course and am helping two other people with their hives, one who has had them for a while but would prefer not to work them and one who has just recently starting bee keeping and has their first hive
Im also lucky to have worked with two bee keepers, the second who has been in the industry for over 40 years and who exports comb honey all over the world.
I may be little now but one day....
And my darling is starting his bee business, being from USA his season is now, I hope to be there later this year and to help work his hives too
Always learning and doing, oh i love the bee life
